Hello, world!

Hello, world!

Welcome in my small place on the internet!

This is my new website, which is going to be something like a blog about the things I do on my journey to get into game development and learn as much as I can. I would like to share my struggles and what I’ve learned along the way, while also opening myself up to other creative people out there and hopefully getting some advice, help, and so on.
Vokulsky is a nickname I’ve embraced recently. It’s not really a full digital persona, nor am I trying to remain completely anonymous, so if you’d like to contact me, feel free to reach out via email or my LinkedIn profile.

And without further ado, a little bit about myself.

About me

Now it’s time for that awkward moment when I have to tell you something about myself :D.

I’m an aspiring game developer from Poland, and I’m in my late twenties. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been interested in technology and all sorts of areas related to it. So naturally, as soon as I got my hands on a Famiclone console (it was a Pegasus in my case) and later on a PC, I fell in love with video games and the whole idea of escaping reality into these wonderful and limitless worlds.
Then coding and programming came along, and eventually I ended up graduating from a technical university with a degree in Robotics and Automation Control.
Speeding things up a little, here we are in the present: I work in IT as a C++ developer. Over the years, I’ve also tried to work on various side projects and broaden my horizons, and I’m still doing so.
My current goal is to get into game development, either as an indie developer or by joining one of the bigger studios. There is a pretty nice selection of them in Poland alone. That’s what motivates me the most right now.

Uff… It wasn’t so hard.

What you could expect from this blog

OK, now it’s time to shift the focus from me to you, dear reader, and more precisely: What exactly can you expect to find on this blog?
As I mentioned above, throughout this journey I’ve worked on some projects that are loosely or more closely related to game development, and I plan to make many more to become better at it and to better understand the industry.
Whenever I come across something interesting that makes me fall down a rabbit hole and that I think is worth sharing, I plan to write a post about it here. That might mean experimenting with engines and tools, writing about programming and rendering, documenting my own projects, or simply going down some particularly interesting rabbit hole. I’m open to recommendations, too.
I might also post some personal stuff here, or something less related to this development journey, just to keep you updated or share something that I find interesting.

The end of the beginning

Once again, welcome, and thank you for being here. I hope you’ll find something interesting here and that you’ll grow along with me.

And I think that’ll be it for now. Let’s see where this website will take me!
